Hi Guys,
Long overdue this thread but as i am sitting about waiting on a phone call seems like an ideal time to post it up.
Living in a conservation area and also in a little village with some grade 1 and 2 listed buildings with a parish council getting planning permission to do anything can be a nightmare.
Anyway after a long haul of about 18 months i finally got my planning approved at the end of last summer at which time my dad managed to break his ankle and came to live with us for a couple of months which coupled with one or two other things that were going on at the time ended up with everything being put on hold until this year.
Because of the proximaty of the tree roots in relation to the garage planning/building regs dictate that i would need to do a 2.6M deep footing on one side of the garage but only 1M deep if the trees were not there. Ultimately the trees were going to come out anyway as it would then give me space down the side of the garage to park the motorhome and the car trailer one behind the other, financially it makes sense to remove the trees first then build the garage although i would have prefered to build the garage first and sort everything else afterwards.
The pictures are all taken sequentially over the last couple of weeks although i havn't got them all loaded on to Photobucket yet so will add to the thread as and when i can.
Cheers.
Russ.

Hi All, With a couple of other random trees i had a total of 40 trees to remove, 34 conifers, 4 laurels and 2 ash. The trees ranged in height from about 15' to 25' although i had already lopped a few feet of the main conifer screen before i took any pictures. Cheers. Russ.

I always say, nice trees but they´re in the wrong place. We had to rip out the same kind of thing here, too many too closely planted, plus the filth that they harbour. We spent ten years getting a neighbour to remove a huge tree that was hanging over the wall onto our side, pushing the wall out of shape and the roots lifting the ground. He did´nt understand the trouble he was causing on our side BUT, he had the same trees further into his garden that were always neatly trimmed. I recently removed a load of palm trees we planted 15 years ago, the garden seems to be lighter and bigger, plus other more pleasing plants can grow. You´ve done a lot of hard work there Russ,... malc.

Hi Malc, To be honest it wasn't so much hard work as very time consuming. If you look at these two pictures, And compare them with these two pictures you can see just how much space i gained as the summerhouse and the metal shed are still in the same place when both pairs of pictures were taken. Cheers. Russ.
