Hi Dom,
What a great story, i bet daniel was over the moon with his trophy. I really enjoyed all of this thread, thanks for taking the time to post it all up. Hats off to you and your wife for going to all that effort.
What has become of the dragster now, have you still got it ?
Cheers.
Russ.

Hi Russ,
After about a year languishing in the garden as a bare chassis (all paper/card stuff binned and rear wheels returned) it was cut up. A small portion of the dragster (cockpit area) is still in the car port as a temporary table/keeping stuff off the ground and I kept some long lengths of the angled steel just in case.
There was an idea to follow the dragster up with a funny car for the carnival for the following year, keeping much of the chassis and components but the logistics of making a full body (chicken wire/paper machete...) was too much to comprehend. You never know, I could be doing it all again in 10+ years time for a grandchild!!!
Dom

hello dom i have been reading this each time you have added bits to it i am one of the guity ones russ was on about for not making any comments before i bet the smile on your boys face was all the thanks you needed for all the effort you went to oh i am one of russ cousins by the way jon Cheers Jon (cousin 'o' Russ) My lad still refers to the Carnival 'He' was in when it comes around the Carnival day each year in Shaftesbury. I often look back on this project as probably one of my greatest practical achievements (though I had lots of help from my father in law) and if it weren't for my boy, it would never have happened. Thanks for reading. Dom

Found the cockpit in the carport as I was having a bit of a tidy up, and while Daniel was to hand I had him try it for size. He's grown a bit since he was last in it! Dom

Hi Dom, Looks like he has got more room in there than we had in Sids slingshot, you had to be very careful how you positioned your nuts on the back of the diff casing, and then hope and pray nothing let go. Cheers. Russ.
