Been looking at a local speed shop that opened a couple of years ago and wondering if they new what they are doing. I finally decided that they could do an oil change and a carb tune up. They report came back that when they did an oil pressure check the pressure dipped when number on piston went round (!!??) and the flex plate needed replacing. Now both can be possible since I have had some issues with the starter wiring and the engine did sit for nearly 10 years after being fully rebuilt. So with this in mind and the prices that they quoted to check out the engine I decided that was something I needed to do. Well the flex plate is OK and I had another engine builder look at the bearings and he blessed them as all good. But it wasn’t a total waste of time since now the starter motor has the correct brackets and bolts and I found that the water pump has a bent shaft . The engine is now repainted and the front of the chassis cleaned up. Plus a few other Jobs that needed doing. So waiting to get the water pump tomorrow and everything should be back on the engine at the weekend and tested. Then time to get the fenders and hood back on. Just in time for the warm weather. Hi Martyn,
The car is looking good, you will have to post up some pics of her when she hits the streets.
Cheers.
Russ.
