Hi Malc,
He was a lucky man, it was reported that his seat belt anchorages were not up to the job and pulled through the floor when it rolled. The same thing happened to young KC over here at York raceway a couple of years ago unfortunately he was not so lucky.
Cheers.
Russ.

Apparently that was the cases with Lee shepherd and Dale Earnhardt. Earnhardt´s was a low speed event so it makes you wonder what forces are in effect during a crash.
The above race was not on a strip surface, it was a pit road, so that might explain both cars apparent loss of traction and sliding around. They should have backed off when that got going.

Hi Malc,
Couldn't agree more on the backing off, at the very least the Chevy should have held his line rather than trying to swerve, recipe for disaster on big wide slicks.
I think we have all raced on unprepped surfaces at one time or another, our club does every year, in fact we will be this weekend at Sywell Piston and Props and a couple of those cars are capable of running down in the 8 second bracket.
Cheers.
Russ.
