ssr responce to wheels day 2014 Wheels Day
The 40th Wheels Day was not as the Surrey Street Rodders would have wished.
We anticipated an attendance of 6,000 people which would have been an increase of 50% of our best ever Wheels Day. Dunsfold Park has informed us the actual number on Good Friday was in excess of 18,000. We are sorry for the problems this unprecedented turnout of vehicles caused.
At one point we did stop charging entry, in order to get as many people as possible on site and try to alleviate the 12 mile traffic jam. Since the show a tirade of negative forum postings, abusive phone calls, emails and now accusations of inappropriate dealings with Wheels Day money have led to the following decision.
There will be no more Wheels Day in its present form.
The Surrey Street Rodders would like to thank everybody who has supported us in the past 40 years and helped so many charities; you are a credit to our hobby.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for posting this up, i hadn't seen it.
Well what a shame this has happened, one of the best one day shows in this country, i guess the complainers will now be moaning they have got nowhere to go now.
At least you made it to this years Wheelsday.
Cheers.
Russ.

Hi Guys, I have been doing a bit of reading on some of the forums since Steve posted this thread up and i think some things do need addresssing and clarifying. I have heard and read that some people were refused entry to Wheels Day after queueing for hours and being told Dunsfold was full. In my opinion that was totaly unacceptable. No way was Dunsfold full, it is possible that the area's allocated /agreed for use were full, that i don't know. Again i don't know for sure but from what i have read and heard SSR /Wheelsday didn't refuse entry to anyone it was Dunsfold's own staff/security that were stopping people coming in. Turning everyone around would do nothing to resolve the 12 mile queue it would just be going in the other direction. The showfield i thought was pretty good on the whole although there were one or two cars that shouldn't have been on there and quite a few that although fitted the criteria did nothing for me personaly. Anyone else got any thoughts on this years show. Cheers. Russ.

So at a guess they will still run the show, but it will be off the web and no advertising....
